Overnight in Luxor.
After breakfast at your hotel, meet your Voyage on the Spot Egyptologist guide and private driver and begin your day exploring the remarkable monuments of Luxor’s West Bank.
Your first stop is the legendary Valley of the Kings, the ancient royal necropolis of Thebes. Descend into the beautifully decorated rock-cut tombs of Egypt’s New Kingdom pharaohs and discover the vivid scenes, hieroglyphs, and ancient beliefs that adorn their walls. You will have the opportunity to enter selected tombs included in your visit.
Continue to the magnificent Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, one of Egypt’s most distinctive monuments. Built for Queen Hatshepsut, one of ancient Egypt’s most powerful female rulers, the temple rises dramatically from the limestone cliffs and features impressive terraces, colonnades, and reliefs depicting her reign and famous expedition to the Land of Punt.
Next, stop at the imposing Colossi of Memnon, two monumental statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that have stood on Luxor’s West Bank for more than 3,000 years. Your guide will share the fascinating history behind these famous guardians of the ancient king’s funerary temple.
Enjoy a delicious lunch at a carefully selected local restaurant before continuing your sightseeing on Luxor’s East Bank.
Explore the spectacular Karnak Temple Complex, the largest ancient religious complex in Egypt. Walk through the monumental Great Hypostyle Hall, surrounded by its forest of towering columns, admire the enormous obelisks and sacred lake, and discover the temples, chapels, and avenues that were built and expanded by generations of Egyptian pharaohs in honor of the god Amun-Ra.
Continue to Luxor Temple, an elegant riverside monument dedicated primarily to the Theban triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. Admire its grand entrance, colossal statues, towering columns, and beautifully preserved reliefs. The temple becomes particularly atmospheric as the afternoon light begins to fade.
After your Luxor exploration, enjoy a comfortable private transfer south to Aswan, approximately 3 hours by road. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and relax.
Overnight in Aswan.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel in Aswan, followed by some free time to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the city. Around 11:00 AM, meet your private driver and begin your journey south through the spectacular desert landscape toward Abu Simbel, approximately 3 hours each way.
Upon arrival, explore the magnificent Abu Simbel Temples, one of the most extraordinary monuments of ancient Egypt. Carved directly into the mountainside during the reign of King Ramses II, the temples were built to demonstrate the power of the pharaoh and celebrate the gods of ancient Egypt.
The first and largest temple is the Great Temple of Ramses II, dedicated to the gods Amun-Ra, Ra-Horakhty, Ptah, and the deified Ramses II himself. Admire its colossal façade, featuring four enormous seated statues of Ramses II, each rising approximately 20 meters above the ground. The entrance leads into a series of impressive halls decorated with detailed reliefs depicting royal ceremonies, religious scenes, and Ramses II’s military victories, including the famous Battle of Kadesh.
Continue to the nearby Temple of Queen Nefertari, also known as the Temple of Hathor. This beautifully decorated temple was dedicated to Queen Nefertari, the beloved wife of Ramses II, and the goddess Hathor. Its façade features monumental statues of Ramses II and Nefertari, while the interior is adorned with colorful reliefs showing the queen in the presence of the gods.
Your guide will also share the remarkable story of the relocation of Abu Simbel in the 1960s, when the temples were carefully dismantled and reconstructed on higher ground to protect them from the rising waters of Lake Nasser following the construction of the Aswan High Dam.
Take your time to explore the temples, admire their extraordinary carvings and architecture, and capture unforgettable photographs before beginning your return journey to Aswan.
A lunch box will be provided for your comfort during the drive back, allowing you to relax and reflect on the remarkable temples and stories you have experienced.
Upon arrival in Aswan, return to your hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening at your leisure.
Overnight in Aswan.
After breakfast and check-out, meet your Voyage on the Spot Egyptologist guide and private driver to discover some of Aswan’s most fascinating ancient and modern landmarks.
Begin your morning with a visit to the impressive Aswan High Dam, one of Egypt’s most significant modern engineering projects. Learn how the dam transformed the region, helped control the annual flooding of the Nile, and led to the creation of the vast Lake Nasser, one of the world’s largest artificial lakes. Enjoy panoramic views of the Nile and the surrounding landscape from this remarkable site.
Continue to the Unfinished Obelisk, located in the ancient granite quarries of Aswan. This enormous monument offers a fascinating glimpse into the techniques used by ancient Egyptian craftsmen to quarry and shape massive blocks of granite. Your guide will explain why the obelisk was abandoned and how its unfinished state provides valuable evidence of ancient stone-working methods.
Your final major attraction is the magnificent Temple of Philae, located on Agilkia Island. Enjoy a scenic motorboat ride across the Nile to reach the island, surrounded by the beautiful waters and landscapes of Aswan.
Dedicated primarily to the goddess Isis, the Temple of Philae is renowned for its elegant columns, beautifully carved reliefs, monumental gateways, and sacred courtyards. Explore the First Pylon, the impressive temple courtyards, the Birth House (Mammisi), and the Sanctuary of Isis while learning about the temple’s importance as one of the last great centers of ancient Egyptian worship.
Your guide will also share the remarkable story of how the Philae Temple complex was dismantled and relocated piece by piece to Agilkia Island to protect it from the rising waters caused by the construction of the Aswan High Dam.
After your sightseeing, enjoy a delicious final lunch at a local restaurant in Aswan before beginning your comfortable private drive back to Luxor, approximately 3 hours.
Upon arrival in Luxor, you will be transferred directly to Luxor Airport for your departure flight, bringing your unforgettable journey through the Nile Valley to an end.
Important: Your departure flight from Luxor must be scheduled after 6:00 PM (18:00) to allow sufficient time for the return journey from Aswan.
