Your tour manager from Voyage on the spot Tours will collect you from your hotel to go on the Alexandria Day Tour. Visit Pompey’s Pillar first. This pillar was built in memory of Emperor Diocletian in the latter half of the 4th century AD. It originally came from the temple of Serapis and was a beautiful monument second only to the Soma and Cesarean monuments.
The trip continues with a visit to the Catacombs that make up the largest Roman Cemetery, with three levels excavated out of rock. A lunch break will be taken at a nearby restaurant in Alexandria, after which we visit the Qaitbay Citadel built on the ancient site of the light house (Pharaoh’s) of Alexandria. The tour concludes with a visit to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
Note: The Library of Alexandria is closed on Fridays, so visit the Roman theater instead.
